JESSE STONE 1: STONE COLD(2005)

This is the first of the Jesse Stone movies, based on the books written by Robert B. Parker!

These films all star Tom Selleck who is absolutely perfect in this role!!!
Stone Cold sets the tone of the series, which is pretty dark. But, a very good movie!

A review from Amazon.com:

There have been 4 Jesse Stone novels by Robert Parker. And though Stone is 35 years old in the first one,
and in his mid 40s by now, Selleck takes and makes the role his own. He's perfect in the role, and the whole
production of this made for TV movie is top notch. there need to be more smart mystery type shows like this around.

When it aired, there were early reports that Selleck was interested in doing more with the character. Perhaps
a series of TV movies, or even a TV series. It aired on CBS, and fans of Spenser For Hire (when is that whole
series coming to DVD?)would love to see a regular weekly series. Personally, I don't know how well it would hold
up weekly. There are only 4 books out to base this on, compared to the more than a dozen when Spenser aired.
But with the right scripts it could become a great weekly show. And a hit. But CBS would probably aim for 21
episodes a season, which might strain the concept a little.

But either way, this movie was excellent. Fans of Parker, Selleck or just a good mystery should check it out. - Jeffrey D. Messer

JESSE STONE 2: NIGHT PASSAGE MOVIE PAGE

JESSE STONE 2: NIGHT PASSAGE(2006)

This is the second of the Jesse Stone movies, based on the books written by Robert B. Parker!

These films all star Tom Selleck who is absolutely perfect in this role!!!
Night Passage is somewhat of a prequel to the Stone Cold, the first Jessie Stone movie. A very good movie!

A review from Amazon.com:

How Tom Selleck's world-weary cop Jesse Stone became the police chief of sleepy Paradise, Mass., is revealed in
this engaging prequel to the first made-for-TV Stone feature, Stone Cold (2005). Selleck is once again well cast as
the rough-around-the-edges Stone, whose drinking problem gets him ejected from the Los Angeles police force; he
soon finds himself the head lawman in a small New England fishing village, where his slow dissolution continues until
a routine domestic disturbance case reveals connections to money laundering and murder, with several of the town's
most affluent names as possible suspects. Selleck is well-matched by veteran scene stealer Saul Rubinek, and there's
good work by Polly Shannon as a city attorney who becomes Stone's romantic interest, and Stephen Baldwin as an
ill-tempered local. Fans of author Robert B. Parker (on whose books the Jesse Stone films are based) and Selleck won't
be disappointed by this smart thriller. --Paul Gaita

JESSE STONE 3: DEATH IN PARADISE

This is the third of the Jesse Stone movies, based on the books written by Robert B. Parker!

These films all star Tom Selleck who is absolutely perfect in this role!!!
Death In Paradise is again a dark movie, as are all of these movies, but still a great watch!

A review from Amazon.com:

The always dependable Tom Selleck returns as Robert B. Parker's small town police chief Jesse Stone in Death
in Paradise, the made-for-TV sequel to Stone Cold, his 2005 debut as the character. Stone is a grittier, more
human (and vulnerable) role than the one that made Selleck famous (playboy detective Thomas Magnum of
Magnum, P.I.), but his tenacity and character flaws (a drinking problem and latent feelings for his ex-wife)
seem a comfortable fit for the older Selleck. And the mystery itself--which surrounds the death of a young
student whose connections to big-city crime--is crisp and convoluted (if not particularly novel), which provides
Selleck with enough action and drama to please his longtime fans. William Devane and Gary Basaraba (Boomtown)
are among the guest stars, while Viola Davis, Vito Rezza, and Kohl Sudduth return from Stone Cold as Selleck's
police officers. Selleck also contributed to the script and co-produced along with director Robert Harmon, who
helmed the other Stone films. --Paul Gaita

Viola Davis ... Molly Crane
Kohl Sudduth ... Luther 'Suitcase' Simpson

Kerri Smith ... Sister Mary John
Stephen McHattie ... Captain Healy

JESSE STONE 4: SEA CHANGE MOVIE PAGE

JESSE STONE 4: SEA CHANGE(2007)

This is the fourth of the Jesse Stone movies, based on the books written by Robert B. Parker!

These films all star Tom Selleck who is absolutely perfect in this role!!!
Sea Change is again a dark movie, as are all of these movies, but still a great watch!

A review from Amazon.com:

Tom Selleck's reliably appealing performance in the title role carries Jesse Stone: Sea Change, the fourth
in the series of films based on Robert B. Parker's novels. His Jesse Stone is one gloomy dude; fired from his
job as a detective with the LAPD, unhappily divorced from his wife (with whom he still talks daily on the telephone),
and now police chief in a picturesque but sleepy New England burg ironically called Paradise, Stone has relieved
his boredom and general disaffection by taking to the bottle. But things are about to change. First one of the
local girls accuses a visiting yachtsman, in town for Racing Week, of rape, an allegation that may or may not be
true (in a scenario straight out of Jaws, when the presence of a shark threatened to ruin a holiday weekend, the
tourism-obsessed Paradise town council wants to sweep this one under the rug as swiftly as possible). Then there's
a robbery-murder case dating back a dozen years or more, which Stone at first takes on simply so he'll have
something to do but later becomes a good deal more complicated. Sea Change is a great-looking film, with a lovely
setting, gorgeous cinematography, and a golden retriever that can be relied on for adorable reaction shots. But
it's also a TV movie of the week, which in this instance means that it's almost entirely predictable, with professional
but less-than-convincing performances by actors dealing with a script in which the characters simply don't talk like
real people (Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth as fellow cops are among the few exceptions). As for Jesse Stone, well,
this is Tom Selleck we're talking about, and drunk or not, he is still thoroughly likable, not to mention a major chick
magnet. That alone will be enough to entertain viewers looking for some easy escapism. --Sam Graham

Cast of Sea Change:

Tom Selleck ... Chief Jesse Stone
Kathy Baker ... Rose Gammon
Kohl Sudduth ... Luthor 'Suitcase' Simpson
Rebecca Pidgeon ... Leeann Lewis
Sean Young ... Sybil Martin
Mika Boorem ... Cathleen Holton
Stephen McHattie ... Captain Healy
William Sadler ... Gino Fish
James Gammon ... Bob
Nigel Bennett ... Harrison Pendelton
Vito Rezza ... Tony D'Angelo
James Preston Rogers ... Terry Genest (as James Rogers)
Jeremy Akerman ... Councilman 1
John Beale ... Dr. Perkins
Saul Rubinek ... Hasty Hathaway

JESSE STONE 5: THIN ICE MOVIE PAGE

JESSE STONE 5: THIN ICE(2009)

This is the fifth of the Jesse Stone movies, based on the books written by Robert B. Parker!

These films all star Tom Selleck who is absolutely perfect in this role!!!
Thin Ice is again a dark movie, as are all of these movies, but still a great watch!

A review from Amazon.com:

Jesse and his State Homicide buddy Healey are shot at in Boston. Both are injured, Healey seriously.
Jesse comes home to learn his ex-wife is moving in with her boyfriend; his employer, the Paradise Town
Council is not pleased with his performance as police chief specifically with his failure to man the
speed trap just outside of town, and a woman from New Mexico thinks her long-ago kidnapped son is
alive and well in Paradise. Add an Internal Affairs investigation conducted by an angst-ridden and glamorous
officer to the mix (Jesse managed to fire a couple of shots at the gunman) and this is a satisfying addition to the series.

Thin Ice describes more than the story. This is the first of the Jesse Stone movies not based on a Robert
Parker novel, there are differences in characters (I particularly missed Molly) and there's an edgier feel to it.
While there is still the wonderful repartee among the members of Paradise's tiny PD that is so characteristic
of these stories, everyone seems uneasy and Jesse seems more self-destructive than in the past. Nevertheless,
the intrepid Jesse manages to sidestep Internal Affairs to resolve the shooting, ferrets out the truth about the
kidnapping, and as the movie ends, is on his way to Do The Right Thing. His future in Paradise is in question as well
as his personal relationships, and I'm glad I read that there is another episode yet unreleased, so maybe the big issues
will be resolved. - Jody "jody@vanwert.com

Cast of Thin Ice:

Tom Selleck ... Jesse Stone
Kathy Baker ... Rose Gammon
Kohl Sudduth ... Luther 'Suitcase' Simpson
Leslie Hope ... Sidney Greenstreet
Stephen McHattie ... Captain Healy
William Sadler ... Gino Fish
Jessica Hecht ... Stephanie Morton
Joanna Miles ... Mrs. Steinberg
Fulvio Cecere ... Teddy Leaf
Camryn Manheim ... Elizabeth Blue
William Devane ... Dr. Dix
Kerri Smith ... Sister Mary John
John Beale ... Dr. Perkins
Jeremy Akerman ... Councilman Carter Hansen
Joe the Dog ... Reggie (as Joe)

JESSE STONE 6: NO REMORSE MOVIE PAGE

JESSE STONE 6: NO REMORSE(2010)

This is the sixth of the Jesse Stone movies, based on the books written by Robert B. Parker!

These films all star Tom Selleck who is absolutely perfect in this role!!!
Thin Ice is again a dark movie, as are all of these movies, but still a great watch!

A review from Amazon.com:

No Remorse, the sixth entry in the made-for-TV series of Jesse Stone mysteries featuring
Robert B. Parker's small-town police chief, is another satisfying blend of detective thrills and
character drama, anchored by coproducer-cowriter Tom Selleck's typically fine turn as Stone.
Picking up shortly after the events of the previous Stone film, Thin Ice, the action finds Stone
struggling with suspension from the force and his alcohol issues; intervention from old friend
Commander Healy (Stephen McHattie) gets him back on his feet and on the trail of a serial killer
preying on young men. Stone and his deputies (Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth) uncover a trail
that leads them to Boston mob boss Gino Fish (William Sadler), whose secret past may uncover
the guilty party. Meanwhile, Stone has to deal with a rash of convenience store robberies that
have turned deadly, as well as his ex-wife and relationship issues with his new dog, Reggie.
Though the tone is a bit darker than previous Stone features, and the resolution of the
convenience store subplot somewhat rushed, the performances, led by Selleck and abetted
by an all-pro supporting cast (which includes William Devane as Stone's shrink and Saul Rubinek
as the hapless Hasty Hathaway), are engaging, and the direction by Robert Harmon top-notch.
Sadly, No Remorse was the last Jesse Stone film to see production during Parker's lifetime, but
under Selleck's stewardship, fans can rest assured that Jesse Stone will continue in good hands.
The widescreen DVD offers no extras. --Paul Gaita
